Abstract
The paper deals with the relationship between Zhang Juzheng's xinxue theory with that of Wang Mingyang of the Ming Dynasty. The focus is on how Zhang, a politician, accepted xinxue and the characteristics of his xinxue as well as the theory's influence on him during the reform. The paper also explores the contradiction of his acceptance of the theory and his opposition of its dissemination and his failure in reforming the supporters of this theory.
