Abstract

The paper mainly introduces the development of wheat high molecular weight glutenin subunits (HMW GS) and their genes. At present, the wheat transgene technique has been becoming viable. The rapid development of molecular marker technique, especially the extensive use of PCR,provides possibility to realize transforming good quality storage protein genes into wheat. The primers, designed on the basis of published sequences of HMW GS genes, are used to amplify new good quality HMW glutenin genes from unknown wheat cultivars. It has been a trend to research those genes and transform them into wheat.
