Abstract
[Objective] The research aimed to provide references for selecting suitable sowing date and sowing rate for the direct seeding single cropping late rice in the north of Zhejiang province.[Method] The conventional medium maturing late japonica variety Xiushui 09 were planted in Longxiang street and Wuzhen town of Tongxiang city respectively. The effects of different sowing dates and sowing rates on growth characteristics,panicle-spikelet structure and yield were studied.[Result] Different sowing dates and sowing rates had significant influence on tillering stage, full heading time, maturity, plant height and total number of leaves. With sowing date delaying and sowing rate increasing, the effective panicle number increased, grain and filled grain number per panicle decreased,1 000-grain weight reduced and yield decreased obviously.[Conclusion] The best sowing date was from the end of May to the beginning of June and the optimum sowing rate was 30.0-37.5 kg/hm2.
