Abstract
[Objective] To evaluate the efficacy of mini-percutaneous nephrolithotomy (MPCNL) in treatment of proximal ureteral calculi. [Methods] A retrospective anaylsis was done in 53 patients with proximal ureteral calculi accepted MPCNL from Oct. 2003 to Oct. 2005. [Results] All the 53 (100%) were rendered stone-free at one-stage seesion. The average operation time was 40 minutes. The duration of hospitalization was 5~12 days with an average of 7 days. No major complications were observed. [Conclusion] MPCNL is a highly efficient procedure and provides fast and safe stone removal in treatment of proximal ureteral calculi, especially large and impacted ureteral calculi.
