Abstract
Objective: The current study was designed to investigate the point mutation of p53 gene codon 249 in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) of non- prevalent areas in Auhui, China. Methods: The PCR- RFLP was applied to analyze the rate of point mutation of p53 gene codon 249. Results: In this 38 cases of hepatocellular carcinoma, no homozygous deletion of p53 exon7 was detected and point mutation of codon 249 was found in 4 cases with a mutation rate of 10.53% (4/38). Conclusion: Our data suggest that in the non- prevalent areas in Anhui, China, the incidence of point mutation of p53 codon 249 is not high in hepatocellular carcinoma, and the point mutation of p53 exon7 may not play a major role in the carcinogenesis of hepatoma.
