"T" shape autologous bone transplantation in treating giant cell tumor of bone around the knee

[Objective]To introduce a surgical technique used in the treatment of giant cell tumor of bone.[Method]Twenty-one patients were treated in our hospital from 1995 to 2003 for bone tumors of Campanacci Ⅰ~Ⅱ.All patients underwent curettage and T shape autologous bone transplantation and phenol.The patients were followed up for 18~24 months.[Result]Eighteen patients were healed on the basis of the duration,all knees presented no function limited.Two patients had local recurrence 8 to 10 months after the treatment.[Conclusion]For the giant cell tumor of bone around the knee,curettage and adjuvant T shape autologous bone transplantation is a good alternative method of reconstruction.
