Anthony Giddens' Structuration and Education

Anthony Giddens is one of the most distinguished sociologists whose structuration theory is widely known by academic circles.This paper expounds three elements influencing the shape of Giddens' structuration theory.They are: the aim of Giddens' theory,the social movements in 1960s and the social idea of Karl Marx.The structuration theory,based on the duality of structure,analyzes the relationship between agency and structure,which gives out a new view of analyzing education.The process of one's education is a process of interaction between agency and educational structure.Educational activities always reflect the duality of structure.
