Abstract
There are mainly four plights in the developing process of contemporary Chinese literature theory. First, the consciousness of literary theory as a subject is obscure, which is represented in the aspects such as the disagreement of its name and system, the irrational relation with other neighboring subjects. Second, its institute tendency is prominent. Theorists often put great emphasis on their academic backgrounds and status. As a result, literature critiques are full of thick academic air. Third, there is a lack of character in its practice, which is represented in the wide gap between contemporary Chinese literary theory, literary criticism, and literary creation practice. Therefore, the theory cannot function well in instructing literary practice. Fourth, the transformation of theoretical terms is improper, that is, in the process of constructing contemporary Chinese literary theory, the transformation of terms is not appropriate between the western literary and ancient Chinese literary.
