Abstract
The status quo of physical education in Chinese colleges and universities is analyzed in this paper. Such an analysis reveals that there are many problems in this field. For example, physical health is taken more seriously than psychological health, the game spirit more seriously than wholesome exercises, and physical exercises more seriously than the development of abilities. On such a basis, it is held that contemporary college P. E. teaching reform should be conducted in light of the theory of healthy physical education.
