Egoism and Altruism in Ethics

Since ancient times,egoism and altruism has received different interpretations in different cultures.It is believed that the dominant trend of Western culture has egoism as the core for its individualism while altruism is the essence of Chinese culture with collectivism as the basis.In fact,egoism and altruism are closely related and similar in nature.The former is realized through the latter while the latter relies on the former for existence.
