Abstract

Using Citrus unshiu cv. Guoqingsihao and C. sinensis as scions, the growth and some physiological and biochemical characters of rootstocks i.e. C. reticulate + Poncirus trifoliate, C. reticulate + C. jambhiri, C. sinensis × P. trifoliate, C. grandis × P. trifoliate, P. trifoliate, (the not grafted rootstock as control), for citrus were studied through two years potted experiment. The results were as follows: the trunk diameter of C. grandis × P. trifoliate and C. reticulate + C. jambhiri rootstocks would be easily influence by scions. There existed significant differences in root system volume between grafted rootstock and not grafted rootstock. The root activity and the activities of SOD and POD in roots of grafted rootstock were not greater than those of not grafted one. The scions improved the activity of CAT in roots of rootstock.
