THE CLINICAL OUTCOME OF CO MBINED HYPERBARIC OXYGEN IN THE TREATMENT OF ACUTE CEREBRAL INFARCTION

Abstract

Objective To evaluate the effect of hyperbar ic oxygen(HBO) in the treatment of acute cerebral infarction. Methods Eighty five patients with cerebral infarction were di vided into two groups in random: HBO group( n =45)and control group( n =4 0). A routine therapy was given to both groups. A patient in HBO group was giv en hyperbaric oxygen 30 times in addition to routine therapy. Short term and lo ng term outcome was followed up after completion of the treatment. Results The therapeutic efficacy of HBO group was much better tha n that of the control ( u c=2.55,P 0.05);the score of nervous functional def iciency in HBO group was markedly lower than that of the control ( t=6.511-8.53 7, P 0.05). Conclusion HBO treatment is beneficial to neurological recovery i n acute cerebral infarction.
