THE CONSTRUCTION OF "PU'S FEMALE IMAGES" IN STRANGE TALES FROM LIAOZHAI AND ITS SIGNIFICANCE

Abstract

In Strange Tales From Liaozhai,Pu Songling constructed a group of distinctive of women.This article tries to redefine Pu's female images from the reality and the illusion worlds created by Pu Songling,that is,the ordinary women in reality and the fox fairies,ghosts,flower-spirits etc.Through the analysis of these vivid female and the pattern of the construction,this article concentrates on the text to contrast the roles played by the female characters and their unique personalities in their daily life and in their love and marriage.Compared with the male characters,Pu devotes more love to the female roles.The individualities and spirit of the female declare the brand new mood of the society,and also reflect the female consciousness of Pu Songling.
