Abstract

The theory of socialist modernization is an important part of Deng Xiao-ping thought as a system. The fundamen tal problem Deng Xiao-ping intends to solve is how to build China into a modern, powerful socialist country. Therefore, Deng Xiao-ping advanced a fundamental goal of modernization: prosperity, power, democracy and civilization. Reform and opening to the outside world and rapid development are fundamental to the modernization. Technology and education are the fundamental motive forces of the development of modernization.
