Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the animal model of intracerebral hemorrhage(ICH) induced by injection of collagenase type Ⅶ into the right basal ganglia in rats. Methods: Collagenase type Ⅶ was injected into the right basal ganglia of rats by stereotatic technique to induce ICH.The neurological symptoms, volume of hematoma and histopathological changes were evaluated at 1,3 and 7 d after operation. Results: Neurological deficit was found in all the rats with ICH and the neurological deficit score at 3 d was higher than those at 1 and 7 d after operation(P0.05).The hematoma volume at 3 d was larger than those at 1 and 7 d after operation(P0.05).Typical histopathological changes of ICH were detected around the hematoma. Conclusion: Collagenase type Ⅶ induced ICH in rats is an ideal animal model to mimic the ICH of human.
