Abstract

To answer the question why Buddhism can be sinolized,we must try to find out what essential characteristics, embodied in Indian Buddhism and Chinese traditional philosophy(mainly referring to Confucianism and Taoism),made the two systems well blended. The prerequisite for Buddhism to be sinolized is that there were four fundamental characteristics existing in the two systems which agreed with each other.Another important reason for the possibility of Buddhism's sinolization is that there were five different characteristics which could nourish each other in the two systems.
