Abstract

A new method was developed for the determination of trace calcium using DBC-chlorophosphonazo as a colour reagent. In the medium of NH_(3)-NH_(4)Cl buffer medium at pH 10.4, calcium(Ⅱ) and DBC-chlorophosphonazo form a blue complex with molar ratio of 1∶1. The apparent molar absorptivity e _(624 nm )= 3.82×10~(4) L·mol~(-1)·cm~(-1). Beer's is obeyed over the range of 0~25μg/25 mL of calcium. The method has been used in the determination of trace calcium in potassium chloride, sodium chloride and sodium nitrate chemical reagents. The results obtained were satisfactory.
