Sedative treatment for the patients with craniocerebral trauma in NICU

Abstract

Objective To review the clinical treatment process for the 47 craniocerebral trauma patients in NICU(neurosurgical intensive care unit) under the condition that patients are anxious and restless,so as to explore the sedative treatment method for the craniocerebral trauma patients.Methods Sedation-agitation scale(SAS) was used to judge the sedative effect.Individual sedative treatment measures were taken to keep the SAS score 2-4 points.Results Sedative drugs were not the first choice but the last choice for the craniocerebral trauma patients;dynamic assessment of sedative effect from time to time helped to distinguish the deteriorated consciousness disturbance of brain injury.Sedative drugs should have the advantages of immediate effect,short effect,and they should be used individually.Conclusion Sedative treatment is an important strategy for craniocerebral trauma in NICU.
