Abstract

China's primary energy demand will hit 5 billion tce by 2050, which will cause serious problems such as the insufficient domestic energy supply, huge oil supply gap, urban air pollution, global climate change etc After various possible solutions for these problems have been analyzed, this paper advances the coal\|based diversified clean energy strategy to achieve sustainable development The main ideas covered in this strategy are as following: (1) coal share in primary energy will continue to remain over 40%; (2) to speed up the development of nuclear and renewable energy in order to fill up deficient domestic conventional energy resources; (3) to develop clean coal strategy centered on synthetic fuels which are on the basis of syngas from coal gasification; (4) urban energy will mainly rely on clean energy
