Abstract

Objective To study the differential diagnostic value of polysomnography in children with snoring. Methods Forty-eight children with sleep snoring were performed polysomnography monitoring for the whole night 7 ~ 8 hours. Results There were 21 children with apnea/hypopnea index(AHI) 1,in 16 children 1 ≤AHI 5,11 children AHI ≥ 5,the average SaO2,lowest SaO2,longest desaturation and time of SaO2 95 % was different significantly(P 0.01) between the last two group and first group, but snore index and total number of snore events was no significant difference(P 0.05) among these groups. Conclusion Polysomnography is a good method to distinguish sleep apnea syndrome and benign snoring in children with snoring,AHI ≥ 1 is appropriate to diagnosis the sleep apnea syndrome in children.
