Abstract

The fluorine-containing acrylate copolymer emulsion was synthesized by seed emulsion polymerization with methyl methacrylate(MMA),butyl acrylate(BA) as main monomers and perfluoroalkyl methacrylate(Zonyl TM) as fluorine-containing monomer,2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate(HEMA) as crosslinking monomer. The effects of such factors as Zonyl TM,HEMA,initiator(APS),mixing emulsifier(SDS/OP-10),polymerization temperature, polymerization time and stirring rate on the total conversion of the emulsion polymerization, water proofness and the emulsion stability were investigated. The total conversion of the emulsion monomer is high, emulsion coagulating rate is low, emulsion polymerization is stable, comprehenisive properties of the film is excellent. Moreover, water contact angle and thermogravimetry(TG) of the fluorine-containing emulsion film were analyzed. The results show that Zonyl TM effectively takes part in the copolymerization and increases water proofness and thermal stability of the film.
