Abstract
Self-developed three-dimension discrete element method (DEM) software is used for simulating the impact fracture behavior of automobile laminated glass and bi-layer laminated glass. Both kind of glass plates are fixed, a rigid object impacts the center of one side of laminated glass, and both sides of the bi-layer laminated glass at a high-speed. Three different impact fracture behaviors are simulated by using three-dimensional DEM respectively. The largest impact force and penetration energy of each situation are obtained. From the results, it is obvious that bi-layer laminated glass is much safer than laminated glass.
