Abstract
Based on the analysis result of plastic mechanics that has been already known,triangle failure mechanism of passive earth pressure is established using plastic upper limit analysis method to educe the basic calculation formula.The corresponding program is prepared to find the optimal failure mechanism in order to get the optimal upper limit solution of passive earth pressure.Comparing the calculation result with the traditional Coulomb's solution and other limit analysis results,it is shown that this result is reasonable,simple and easy to program.
