Abstract
The synthesis of a new reagent HHDAA and its chromogenic reaction with cadmium (Ⅱ)in the presence of TtitonX-100have been studied. In 1.0mol·1-1 ammonia solution Cd(Ⅱ ) reacts with HHDAA to form a stable red complex with molar ratio of 1:3. The apparent molar absorptivity is 1. 97 × 105L mol -1 cm-1. at the maximum absorption wavelength of 520nm. Beer's law is obeyed in the concentration range of 0-18μgCd(Ⅱ ) in 25ml solution. The method shows higher selectivity, 70μgHg (Ⅱ ) are tolerable and has been applied satisfactorily to determine cadmium derectly in waste water samples.
