Abstract
In this paper, the necessity of limited values of axial compression ratio for compression bending components is discussed in terms of eccentric compression failure. Based on the research results of domestic and overseas scholars, the definition and the limited values of three types of columns including reinforced concrete columns, high strength concrete columns and steel reinforced concrete colunms are analyzed and the relationship of the limited values for such columns is discussed as well. The experimental results of steel reinforced high strength concrete columns under the cyclic reversed loading are introduced, as a result, the limited values of axial compression ratio and axial force ratio for such columns are proposed in terms of experimental results.
