Abstract

Glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor purified in recent years is a specific neuroprotective factor for dopaminergic neurons, upregulates acylcholine acylhydrolase, enhances survival of injured sensory neurons and motor neurons, modifies glutamate-mediated degeneration. Different opinions exist in brain ischemia. Exogenous glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor shows neuroprotective effect in central nervous diseases, this review focuses on these progresses.
