Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the effect of imidapril on ventricular remodeling and matrix metalloproteinases 8 weeks after acute myocardial infarction in rats. Methods: Operated rats were randomly separated into control group (group C, n=10) and imidapril group (group Ⅰ, n=10) 24 hours after anterior descending coronary ligation. The rats without operation were as sham-operated group (group SH, n=10). Eight weeks after treatment, echocardiography and ventricular weighting were examined, and MMPs activity of left ventricular was measured by gelatin zymography. Results: LVRW, RVRW and LVEDD in operated groups increased significantly compared with those in group SH. LVRW, RVRW and LVEDD in group Ⅰ decreased significantly compared with that in group C. MMP-2 activity in group C increased significantly compared with that in group SH. MMP-2 activity in group Ⅰ decreased significantly compared with that in group C. Conclusion: MMP-2 activity can be inhibited by imidapril 8 weeks after acute myocardial infarction in rats, and improve ventricular remodeling is improved.
