Abstract

Chang'an City capital of the Tang Dynasty(618~907A.D.) orderly in manner,rational in layout,distinctive in architecture,and classic in its Lifang system,was the largest ancient metropolis in the world and had a profound influence on the Korean Peninsula and Japan.This great capital of the Tang Empire embodies rich ideas about site selection,urban planning,architectural design and environmental protection,which are the soul of Chang'an,the capital city of the Tang Dynasty.Therefore,the study and inheritance of the consciousness in its urban safety,urban culture,environmental protection and economical building is of significant theoretical and practical values in the construction of architecture culture with the unique style of our Chinese nation,in the understanding and protection of the prosperous Tang's architectural context and in the development of a humanistic,ecological,internationalized,modernized city of Xi'an.
