Abstract

Catalytic activities of supported phospho-tungstic acid catalysts in the vapor phase nitration of benzene were studied The effects on nitration of supports, reaction temperatures, loading amount of hetero-polyacid and molar ratio of benzene to HNO 3 were also investigated The results show that H 3PW 12 O 40 /SiO 2 is an excellent catalyst for the vapor phase nitration of benzene, and the optimum reaction conditions are: molar ratio of benzene to HNO 3,2∶1 and reaction temperature, 155~160 ℃ Under above conditions, the yield of nitrobenzene based on HNO 3 is 90 6% [
