Abstract
Quantitative data were collected from Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus),and relationships between body dimension measurements and body weight were analyzed.The results showed there were clear positive correlation between body weight and several body measurements with the R2 value more than 0.85,which can reflect the characters of fish configuration,such as standard length,corrected length,total length,body depth and body width.The multivariate formulae ln W= a +b1 ln LS+b2 ln DB and ln W= a + b1 ln LC+ b2 ln DB had good fitness with R2 value of 0.958 and 0.955,respectively.They also had good results in the practice verification because the error was less than 5% in more than 88% individuals.The two formulae reflect more comprehensive effect of various dimensions on the weigh to fish.
