Abstract
The synthesis of 7-hydroxy-4-methylcoumarin was performed by the condensation of 1,3-benzenediol and ethyl acetoacetate under microwave irradiation. The optimum reaction conditions were as follows:5.8 g 1,3-benzenediol,6.8 mL ethyl acetoacetate,0.4 g sodium hydrogen sulfate,10 mL cyclohexane,100(℃),12 min,and microwave irradiation with 500 W microwave power. The yield reached 91.0%
