Abstract

Species and bioavailability of phosphorus in the surface sediments from Longzihu Lake were investigated using the sequential extraction method in this paper. The different forms of sedimentary phosphorus were studied in Longzihu Lake, which are the forms of loosely adsorbed phosphorus,Fe bound phosphorus, authigenic apatite phosphorus and calcium carbonate-bound phosphorus, detrital phosphorus and organic phosphorus. It was shown that total phosphorus in sediments varied from 199.5-727.5 mg·kg-1that was mainly in the form of inorganic phosphorus dominated by authigenic apatite phosphorus and calcium carbonate-bound phosphorus.Organic phosphorus and inorganic phosphorus accounted for 31.8%and 68.2% of total phosphorus, respectively.Bioavailable phosphorus in the study area is varied from107.73-523.81 mg·kg-1,the potentiality of phosphorus release is greater.
