Abstract
To investigate the development mechanisms and pathogenicity of Taenia asiatica and Taenia saginata in domestic pigs,The domestic pigs were infected respectively with eggs of Taenia asiatica and Taenia saginata, and then dissected at regular interval after infection, checked the parasitic conditions of cysticerci, and observed the pathological damages of the hepatic tissues. The results indicated that the domestic pigs were susceptible to infect the two breeds of cestodes, the domestic pigs were suitable intermediate host of Taenia asiatica, but were not suitable intermediate host of Taenia saginata.A large quantity of cysticerci were found in the livers infected Taenia asiatica, developing well in all the stages, however was a few cysticerci were found in the pigs infected Taenia saginata, which with shorter living time and smaller size. The two kinds of cestodes can result to the serious pathological lesions on the host, and the more serious damage caused by Taenia asiatica.
