Diagnosis and differentiation of focal thyroid lesions by CT

Objective To explore the value of CT in diagnosisis of thyroid diseases.Methods CT findings in 51 thyroid diseases cases proved by pathological data were ananlyzed retrospectively.All of them were examined by plain CT scan,and 43 of them were additionally examined by enhancement scan.Results There 12 thyroid adenomas cases had a complete capsule and no metastatic lymph node.Among 25 thyroid carcinomas cases,22 were papillary carcinoma cases,3 folliculla carcinoma cases,1 undifferentiated carcinoma case,1 medellary carcinoma case.12 caese were found calcification,including fine granular calcifications and small calcification,15 cases were revealed metastatic lympadenopathy in the neck,22 cases were unlear margin and infiltrative growth.2 cases metastatic thyroid.Out of 12 nodular goiter cases,7 had cystic change.Conclusion The calcification in lesions,the relationship between the lesions and normal thyroid tissue or surrounding structures and cervical metastatic lymph nodes or metastasis are important for CT diagnosis and differential diagnosis of thyroid diseases.CT scan might possess important value in diagnosis and differential diagnoses of thyroid diaeases.
