Abstract

This paper introduces the reason of TCP packet losses and performance degradation in wire and wireless networks.Pointing out methods to improve TCP performance over wireless networks are TCP-aware in middle node so it is unfit for encrypted data stream. This paper proposes an alternative ″TCP-unaware″ scheme that is suitable for encrypted TCP traffic. It makes TCP source be capable of differentiating a loss due to congestionin the wired network from a loss due to bit-error in wireless networks.Simulation results show that the scheme can improve TCP transmited performance significantly both in LAN and in WAN and this method is effective.
