Abstract
Composite subgrade with geogrid has been widely used in treating soft clay foundation, but the performance of the geogrid has seldom been studied systematically.Based on Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion, the settlement, lateral displacement of the subgrade, axial force, shear stress of the piles and diffuse of the stress have been analyzed in this paper using two-dimensional finite element software PLAXIS.The models of foundation without geogrid and with geogrid of various strengths have been studied in detail. Results show that the settlement and the lateral displacement decrease clearly using geogrid. This paper could be a good guidance on selecting geogrid in design and construction.
