Abstract
Objective To evaluate the anatomical and visual outcomes of pars plana vitrectomy for treating rhegmatogenous retinal detachment. Methods Sixty-seven cases(67 eyes) with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment underwent pars plana vitrectomy. The data were analyzed retrospectively. Results By one to six years follow-up,reattached retina was obtained in 66 of 67 eyes(98.5%) and the best corrected visual acuity was improved in 45 eyes(67.2%). Unclosure of retina break and new retina break caused by PVR were the main causes of retinal redetachment.Macularopathy was the main causes of bad visual outcome. Conclusion Pars plana vitrectomy is effective for treating rhegmatogenous retinal detachment.
