The Mineralogical Features of Houcao Bauxite Deposit in Zunyi

The Houcao Bauxite deposit in Zunyi,which is recorded in a book of Discovery History of Mineral Deposits in China·Integration,is one of the main mining sections within the Zunyi bauxite belt which has better open mining conditions and higher ore grades in Guizhou Province.The paper described the data acquired from different measurements such as thin section,differential thermal,electron-microprobe and SEM,the compositions and mineralogical features of ore minerals including crystalline shape,grain size,physical optical property and occurrences are discussed,the content and character of main minerals in different kinds of ores are also studied.It is shown that the mineral assemblage in different ores changes to some extent,the content of diaspore and its crystal form differ in different type of ores which should be the indication of forming conditions of bauxite.
