Two-year clinical evaluation of 36 cases of cracked teeth restored with a direct full crown restoration

Abstract

Objective:To observe the management of cracked teeth through two-year clinical evaluation of cracked teeth with vital pulp restored with a direct full crown restoration.Method:On the basis of clinical manifestation and examination,36 cases of cracked teeth with vital pulp were divided equally into two groups.GroupⅠ,clinical manifestation included biting pain and obvious dyeing of the crack without other symptoms.Group Ⅱ,clinical manifestation included sensitivity to thermal or cold stimuli beside that of GroupⅠ.All cracked teeth received direct full crown restoration and therapeutic effect was evaluated.Result:The pulp survival rate for GroupⅠwas 100 % and that of Group Ⅱ was 72.2 %.The significant difference was found for the two groups.Conclusion:It was important to diagnose and classify cracked teeth with vital pulp correctly.According to clinical classification of cracked teeth,it was one of the most effective approachments to restore cracked teeth with direct full crown restoration.
