Analysis of John Updike's "Separating" from the Perspective of Feminism

John Updike is one of the best writers in America,who have influenced a lot of writers.However,he was so criticized for male chauvinism in his works that he had to follow feminism in later writing sometimes.Although he denied his style of male chauvinism,in Separating,men just took women's plenty of sacrifices for granted while women were symbols of being rebellious,immature,and indifferent to family and seducing married men.Besides,women didn't have much their says in that novel,which shows John Updike's style of male chauvinism.
