Abstract
OBJECTIVE:To study the expression of LKB1 protein and its clinical significance in lung adenocarcinomas. METHODS: Immunohistochemical staining was performed with LKB1 antibody to the surgically resected tissue samples from 62 patients with lung adenocarcinoma.RESULTS: The negative rate of the expression LKB1 protein in lung adenocinoma was 38.7%(24/62). The expression LKB1 protein was associated with the extent of lymph node metastasis (χ2=10.620,P=0.014)and clinical stages,χ2=18.635,P=0.000. The median survival time was 15 months in the LKB1 protein negative expression group, however, 29 months in the LKB1 protein positive expression group,χ2=15.350,P=0.000. CONCLUSION: Loss LKB1 expression in lung adenocarcinoma may contribute to the lymph node metastasis, and this may be a risky factor for the prognosis of patients with lung adenocarcinoma.
