Abstract
Colleges and universities' positioning means that colleges and universities decide their position in the structure of the whole social structure and institutions of higher learning and determine their quality specifications in quality of personnel training.Currently, there are some problems in colleges and universities' positioning, such as the absence of colleges' dominant position, similar target and adverse effects of traditional thinking in positioning. The government, the market, and colleges are all responsible for the problems. To promote higher education to better position, the government should respect the autonomy of local schools, regulating, guiding and monitoring colleges reasonably;the society should participate broadly;the colleges and universities should be rational in positioning from their own characters.
