Abstract
Objective To investigate the clincopathologic and immunohistochemical features and diagnosis of choroid plexus papilloma(CPP).Methods One case of CPP discovered in the lateral ventrical by autopsy was observed by HE stain and immunohistochemical technique (EnVision system). Results The tumor occurred in an 1 8-day old newborn with hydrocephalus and located in the lateral ventrica l,appearing as a red lobulated mass.Microscopically the tumor resembled choroid plexus and presented papillary patterns with uniform cells that were well vascularized.Immunohistochemical staining showed positive staining for pan kera tin and Vimentin, strongly positive for S-100 protein, locally positive for GFAP and negative for EMA,34βE12 and CEA.Conclusion CPPs,often located in the lateral ventricle in childhood, were benign neoplasms deriving from cerebral ventricle choroids plexus and could secrete excessive cerebrospinal fluid causing hydrocephalus and increased intracraniai pressure. The typical papillary structure under microscope and CK,S-100,Vimentin positive staining were helpful in its diagnosis.
