Luonan county is a big leaf tobacco producer in Shaanxi province.Low content of soil chlorine limits the improvement of tobacco quality,which is less than 7.0-24.1 mg/kg.The optimum chlorine content of leaf tobacco ranges between 4-6 mg/g,whereas the chlorine content of the leaf tobacco produced in Luonan county varies from 0.53-0.70 mg/g,the former is about ten times as much as the latter.Tobacco is a kind of crops,which should avoid chlorine,but it needs chlorine in its growth,how to raise the chlorine content of leaf tobacco to the optimum chlorine content as much as possible without surpassing the optimum content can be well solved.According to the research,it is recommended that 60-90 kg of chloride potassium per hectare remarkably improve the quality of leaf tobacco and the fertilizer be plough under soil in combination of winter plowing.
