The Change and Analysis of the Ecological Footprint of Suzhou City,1999-2008

Based on the theory and method of ecological footprint,using the data mainly coming from the statistical yearbook of SuZhou from 2000 to 2009,the size of ecological footprint and ecological capacity are calculated and analyzed in this paper from 1999 to 2008.Results show that:(1)the size of ecological footprint increased yearly;(2) land use of fossil fuel is the first contributor to ecological footprint of Suzhou;(3) ecological footprint size decreased every ten thousand yuan GDP;(4)by contrastive analysis on ecological footprint estimated data of other city,it found that the ecological footprint level of suzhou city is above the national and jiangsu province,is also higher than the same scale of the city.Finally,some suggestions of the ecological environmental protection and the sustainable development are proposed in future.
