Abstract
A transesterification process for synthesis of di-2-ethyl-hexyl carbonate(DEHC) from dimethyl carbonate(DMC) and 2-ethyl-hexanol(EHOH)was studied.Several potassium salts were compared as the catalysts for the transesterification, among which K_2TiO_3 exhibited better activity and selectivity. The optimum operation conditions for K_2TiO_3 catalyst were obtained as follows: reaction temperature 140 ℃,reaction time 2 h,n(DMC)∶n(EHOH) =1∶3,catalyst loadings = 1% of mass of the feed.DMC conversion of 72.1%,selectivity to DEHC of 79.2% and DEHC yield of 57.6% were attained under the optimum condition.
