Abstract

Aim:To analyse the expression of PTEN protein and mRNA in ovarian epithelial carcinoma tissue. Methods:The expressions of PTEN in 12 cases of normal ovarian tissues,20 cases of benign tumors and 65 cases of ovarian epithelial cancer tissue were detected by immunohistochemical method. The expression of PTEN mRNA was determined by RT-PCR in 25 cases of ovarian cancer and 12 cases of normal ovarian tissue. Results:The expression of PTEN protein in ovarian epithelial cancer was significantly lower than that in normal and benign tumor tissues(χ2=12.482,10.046,P0.05).The expression of PTEN was correlated with clinical stages and differentiation degree (χ2=6.232,5.071,P0.05).PTEN mRNA expression in ovarian tissue (1.30±0.32) was lower than that in ovarian epithelial cancers(0.61±0.20)(t=6.706,P0.05).Conclusion: The absence of PTEN is related to the carcinogenesis and development of ovarian epithelial cancer.
