Abstract
Corrosion of carbon steel and weathering steel exposed for 2 years in Hainan was compared and the distribution of deferent components and alloy elements in the rust layer was determined. The results show that the structure of rust formed on weathering steel is sheety layer containing Cr, while the structure of rust of carbon steel is lump containing S. The function of Cr and S in the rust layers is analyzed.
