Abstract

The allegory of the poem Qianshang composed by Zi Dashu has caused great controversies over the original meaning, the poem-composing style in the Spring-Autumn period and the background against the composing of the poem. Some scholars think that the allegory of the poem Qianhsang is just what is meant in Mao′s Preface to the Book of Songs, meaning for the help from a big power for the salvation of one's own country. Some think that the purpose of Zi Dashu's composing of this poem is to express resentment. If we consider the strength of the two states Jin and Zheng, the relationship between the people on the spot and the effects of poem composing,we can judge that the most proper meaning is seeking for the help from a big power for the salvation of one's own country.
