RESEARCH PROGRESS AND TREND OF PAVEMENT MANAGEMENT

Pavement is the key important part of transportation infrastructure, and pavement management is the main task of highway asset management. The paper systemically reviewed the updated research progresses of pavement management internationally and nationally with respect to the frequently used methods/approaches, indices, and models in pavement management procedures, including pavement condition assessment, pavement performance prediction, and pavement management optimization. The application of artificial intelligence in pavement management, such as artificial neural network, fuzzy logic and genetic algorithms were analyzed. Meanwhile, the paper discussed and outlined the framework of highway asset management, which is the future trend of pavement management.
